Celebrating Our Past, Present, and Green Future!

Updated: Nov 5

This past weekend, we welcomed community members and visitors for a special afternoon of celebration as part of the 2024 Community Land Festival. The event was a great success - with community members and visitors coming together with enthusiasm and a shared love of our village.

The afternoon began with a guided walking tour led by members (Margaret and June) of the knowledgeable Inchinnan Historical Interest Group. The walk gave attendees a first-hand look at our community-owned land, plans for future green assets, and the rich history behind our village.

After the tour, the festivities continued over at the iconic India of Inchinnan building, home of the India of Inchinnan Business Hub and IDT HQ.

Kids enjoyed woodland crafts with Little Forest Friends, showcased their football skills in penalty shootouts with St Mirren Youth Football Club, and had a blast with bouncy castles and assault courses (funded by CUBED Interior Projects), as well as face painting.

Elsewhere there were stalls from various local businesses and organisations, celebratory food (provided by R34 Restaurant and funded by Inchinnan Community Council), and some brilliant music from the talented Mandy and Jane.

It was inspiring to see so many come together to celebrate our community land ownership journey. We’re thrilled to have shared our vision for Inchinnan and its green future with you all!

We want to give a big thank you to those who made the event possible - our sponsors (Community Land Scotland, Cubed Interior Projects, Inchinnan Community Council, stallholders (Inchinnan Parish Church, Inchinnan Historical Interest Group, Renfrewshire Climate Action Network, Inchinnan Scout Group, Hiolair Holistic Healing, Little Bumble Bee, Celestial Creations, Little Forest Friends, Brenda, and Lunar Self Care Co.), Bridgewater Housing Association (for their help with planning), our dedicated volunteers and board members who supported the event, and of course our community members who came along to celebrate with us. A special thank you also goes to Antony Reilly at Inchinnan Capital Investments, the owner of India of Inchinnan Business Hub, for providing a venue which perfectly represents Inchinnan’s rich history and community spirit.
